Seriously, any old photo you have of a Volkswagen bug may be a keeper. An iconic classic symbol, the “Bug.” Anytime I see a Volkswagen Beetle, many memories come to mind . . .
- 1974 – the oldest memory I have . . . when my mom and dad brought my baby sister home in my mom’s beloved red bug
- late 1970s – watching Herbie the Love Bug
- early 1980s – playing “Slug Bug” or “Punch Bug,” with my friends on the way to band practice or on the bus
- 1990s – watching Volkswagen Beetles come back into style. Who knew??
- 2014 – when I slugged my sister in the McDonald’s drive through, just as she was placing her order (unfortunately, no photo of that moment, it was not pretty! It’s just not that funny when you are over 40 I guess.)
In the photos above, meet my parents back in the winter of 1972, before I was even born. By sharing these photos with my family, we can see:
- The old Oak Creek post office on Howell Avenue across the street from where I grew up
- How much in love my parents were . . . which lasted for all 44 years until my dad died
- The cold snow piles especially in the first photo – we had to shovel all that by hand when we we were kids.
Can you find the photos of the Volkswagon in your family (or other very special car) that brings back the memories? If not you may need help! Email me at fixyourphotomess@pixologieinc.com and I’d love to help!
