Ever hear someone say, “I’d rather do manual labor all day than start organizing my old photos?” Well, that is what our client, Mary, said when she called to inquire about our slideshow services for her daughter, Christine’s upcoming 40th birthday party. A grandmother who travels a lot, Mary explained that she felt her daughter’s photos were mixed in many albums, boxes and folders and she had no idea how to start or how she’d make the time.
After hearing about our options for creating a slideshow, Mary chose to come into Pixologie during our Open Studio Time – where she could sort her photos uninterrupted and get tips, ideas and tricks from us while she worked on her printed and digital photos.
Instead of having us scan the printed photos for her once they were organized, Mary chose to rent our Kodak Picture Saver Scanning System for just $50 per hour – this saved her hundreds of dollars in scanning fees, and empowered her to manage her own photos. She returned five or six times to work on her slideshow project bringing new albums to organize and scan her photos fast – up to fifty photos a minute.
“Because you helped me with creating a plan,” Mary told us, “I felt comfortable spreading out my photo albums at home and then, picking and choosing what I wanted to bring in to scan.” She loved the high speed scanning and, “You get into a mindset,” she said once she started scanning, “and you know the end results will be worth it.”
While Mary scanned nearly 1500 photos, she only used 100 or so in her slideshow which we did charge an hour of consultation time to help her put together. Her daughter’s 40t
h birthday party was held this past weekend, and Mary was thrilled, letting us know, “The video was perfect, Christine was surprised and everyone loved it. Cannot thank you enough!”
Offering Mary the ability to rent our Kodak scanner helped establish our business as one that tries to help our clients get the best value for their investment in us. We could have simply created the slideshow for her. Because we partnered with her at our studio, Mary was thrilled, she learned a lot more about photo organization and she developed a new skill with using the high speed scanner.
