In my quest for a new twist on the traditional family photo calendar for 2017, I decided to put some photos in from the 1950s especially of my mother-in-law and the farm where she grew up in Colfax, Wisconsin. Check out the photo of her mother feeding the chickens up above and the cows. I know this calendar is going to be the talk of our Bartelt family Christmas Eve gathering when she opens it and shares the stories about those farm animals!
I did send my mother-in-law a preview of a couple of the photos (really to make sure I did have the family members included that were relevant. She told me she laughed and then she cried. Yay! I made my mother-in-law cry! You can too by putting together a photo gift with old pictures.
However, finding those old photos shouldn’t cause you to lose hours of your life as you go searching for the best ones. If you don’t have a system to organize and save your photos, you need one, not just for your family but for your own sanity!
At Pixologie, we only consider a photo saved when:
- You can find it when you want it
- It is backed up in two places, one inside the house and one outside the house.
It literally took me just five minutes to select the old photos I wanted to use for our 2017 calendar and about two hours to put the calendar together in Forever Artisan. Here’s how my calendar pages turned out with the photos.
