When your mom or dad is celebrating their 80th birthday, photos are a definite must for the party! Last weekend, Pixologie Co-Founder, Ann Matuszak, helped plan a great party for her mom, Marie Findlay, inviting dozens and dozens of family and friends to join in the fun.
While Marie’s 80 years is a fabulous milestone, the old photos really made the afternoon special. Young childhood and adulthood photos lined each of the tables. We all enjoyed the stories that came from each picture. Think about all the ways these photos impacted the day . . .
- Offering great conversation starters
- Connecting generations, even the little kids got a kick out of the old photos
- Generating many laughs (always healthy!) as people looked back at their younger selves
- Celebrating milestones from weddings to births and so much more
- Honoring Marie’s life and family
Without Marie, Pixologie would not exist today so we have a VERY special place in our heart for her. She has been a trooper scrapbooker back when Ann sold Creative Memories products. And, it was through Creative Memories, that Ann met Mollie. In fact, we don’t think we can even count the hundreds of hours spent saving memories together with her. Marie has loved preserving her family’s history and we are so blessed to have had her on our journey as we help many other families preserve their history.
Some fun moments from the party: Mollie finding a childhood photo of Ann; Ann’s brother and cousin figuring out who is in a photo; grandkids and great grandkids looking at Marie’s photos, Ann and her mom looking at a photo.
The bottom line is this. . . your family photos should be a standard part of any milestone birthday party. And, you don’t have to go through an elaborate production to get photos into your party. You could even invite family members to bring old photos as well. Enjoy the memories! Ann’s family and her mother sure did!
