Where does the time go? When Ann and I started Pixologie in 2013, it was a whirlwind of a summer. We were fresh off an exciting start to the year with Creative Memories as direct sales consultants and unit leaders. . . and then, Creative Memories went into bankruptcy for the second time in a few years. This time, the situation was quite dire.
Ann coordinated the last conference for Creative Memories consultants who were still wanting to maintain their memory saving business. It was in Denver, Colorado and around 100 people attended. We had a great time and heard from Jodi Bondy about the Association of Personal Photo Organizers. Ann told me she was interested in starting a photo organizing business. After hearing Jodi’s talk, I studied up on the field during free time and by the end of the three day conference, was sold on the importance of this work.
After all, Ann and I sold a lot of photo albums, scrapbooks and photobook software, only to have our customers never get the time to work on their pictures. Offering hands-on help seemed like a better way to help people save their family memories.
So on the airplane ride home from Denver, Ann and I strategized how we could start a photo organizing business. . . to the point of creating a business model that could be replicated and that could help set industry standards. Three weeks later, we finally came up with a name that we liked – Pixologie. We loved it – the study of life through your photos.
We met with our attorney immediately and he helped us set up our business documents including incorporation, license and client agreement forms.
We had a banner made and on Labor Day Weekend had a booth at the third annual Just Live Labor of Love Festival. We still have the booth each year at this festival as we believe passionately in their mission of suicide prevention and mental help resource support. Please check it out and maybe we’ll see you there this year. We love the family whose personal experience of losing a young family member to suicide means so very much to us.
Photos Make a Difference
Five years later, we know that photos have a strong ability to impact a person’s quality of life. Looking at photos helps lift spirits, create laughter, share joy and so much more. We are proud to have helped save over one million photos, videos and film since we started in 2013. Here’s some of the words that people have shared with us in that time.
- Thankful for Ann who provided a digital version of a one of a kind 1947 promotional video so it can be shared with many more who will appreciate it!
- This place has changed my life! NO MORE putting this project on the back burner. I need to preserve these memories for myself and, of course, my children. Best Mother’s Day present ever!!
- Ann and Mollie are the best. They really have your best interest at heart. They are so knowledgeable. I have used them for several events and it has been wonderful always.
- Ann did a beautiful job on a family memory book, with pictures and documents going back to the Civil War through the 1960s. We then had them convert an old cassette tape of songs to a CD for us and we’ve been thrilled with the results of both projects. We already have other projects in the works for them. Thank you Ann and Mollie from the bottom of our hearts. Love, love, love these guys!
- Mollie & Ann do a great job helping get photos out of chaos into your family again.
Words cannot express how blessed we feel to have been a part of your lives for the past five years. Please come and celebrate with us at our Five Year Celebration on July 25th. Click here for more details!
