I’d like to share a story from a Pixologie community member who has found comfort in her memories during a challenging time. Recently, she wrote to me about her journey, sharing how photos and music have helped her stay connected to her family’s love and legacy. What a blessing to see how family, photos and healing come together to provide peace and comfort.
Family, Photos and Healing
This client, whom I’ll call “a friend from Canada,” joined the Pixologie community with enthusiasm, diving into organizing her family’s memories. But life took her focus elsewhere, as her parents, in their 90s, began needing extra care. She’s been commuting over 480 miles to support them, especially after her father’s recent passing. Though she’s had to step back from organizing and preserving her memories, she finds comfort in a cherished photo from 1958 shown above and a song.
The song entitled “Photograph” by Canadian singer-songwriter Royal Wood has become an additional source of comfort. Our friend describes music and photos as a “wonderful marriage,” both helping her hold onto treasured memories even as life changes. The connection between these two forms of expression has offered her peace during this difficult time. (See the link below to view the music video for Wood’s Photograph.
Pausing in Photo Organizing Efforts – A Natural Part of Life
Her story reminds us that, though we may pause our organizing journeys at times, our photos and memories remain ready to offer comfort and connection. She continues preserving her family’s story one step at a time, uploading photos and culling them as she can. It’s a beautiful reminder that, even in life’s busiest moments, these memories are there for us to revisit and cherish.
